Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister
Antonio Tajani will host on Thursday at Villa Madama in Rome a
meeting of foreign ministers of the so-called Quintet - United
States, France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Italy - to be
also attended by the European Union's High Representative for
Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
The gathering, scheduled to take place from 6 to 8 pm, was
promoted by Tajani to discuss the situation in Syria one month
after the ouster of former Syrian president Bashar al-Assad's
regime.
Talks are expected to focus on the work of the transitional
government and challenges ahead of the landmark national
dialogue conference announced by de facto authorities, the
drafting of a new Constitution, the integration of all parts of
society to chart a new path for the nation and the country's
economic recovery.
