Maura Delpero's intimate epic
Vermiglio, Italy's candidate for the best international feature
film category of the 2025 Academy Awards, is out of the Oscars
race, according to the nominations unveiled on Thursday.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the
nominees in Beverley Hills.
Vermiglio, which had recently won the Venice Film Festival's

shortlisted for the best international feature film category but
did not make the final cut.
The drama is set at the end of World War II in an Alpine village
where the arrival of a soldier disrupts the relationship between
three sisters.
It premiered in North America last September at the Toronto Film
Festival.
The nominees for best international feature unveiled Thursday
are: I'm Still Here, Walter Salles (Brazil); The Girl with the
Needle, Magnus von Horn (Denmark); Emilia Pérez, Jacques Audiard
(France); The Seed of the Sacred Fig, Mohammad Rasoulof
(Germany); Flow, Miguel Gomes (Latvia).
