Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister
Antonio Tajani on Friday said he called for dialogue to avoid a
potential trade war that wouldn't benefit anyone during talks
with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio after a G7 Foreign
Ministers' Meeting in La Malbaie, Quebec.
With Rubio, "we spoke about the new situation at a commercial
level, even if he isn't the foreign trade minister", Tajani said
after the G7 meeting.
"I said that it will be necessary to avoid any trade war because
they benefit no one and we are ready to dialogue", he noted.
"As Italians, we will play our part in Europe as well, because
the solution can only be dialogue.
"We must not make bombastic statements" and "solutions can be
found", also stressed Tajani.
"A strongarm is not useful to anyone" and "I believe that the
best road to follow is dialogue and discussion", he noted.
