The Holy See is in favour of
disarmament, Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin
said on European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen's 800
billion euro ReArm Europe plan approved by the European
parliament last week.
"Those who rearm, sooner or later the weapons must be used,
right? And this has always been the Holy See's policy since the
First World War, that is, to insist at an international level
that there be general and controlled disarmament, so we cannot
be happy with the direction we are going in", said Parolin,
questioned about ReArm Europe, on the sidelines of the 1st
Edition of "The Ramadan Table - Iftar", promoted by the Moroccan
Embassy to the Holy See by the MICC, Media International
Communication Club. -
